In most cases, though, you should wait 24 hours to ensure the person has a full day to reply. Some specific chat channels and other modes of communication expect a faster turnaround, and following up under 24 hours there is perfectly normal. In a regular channel talking about a non-top priority work item — give it a day. Trust that your colleague will reply! If it’s urgent, don’t send a reminder; escalate through a channel with a faster-expected turnaround time. Just think: would I want to be reminded about this already? #bendevtip
