I didn't have much of a plan when...

I didn't have much of a plan when I started posting #bendevtips in May 2020. It'd force me to keep writing, a skill I want to keep improving, and it'd be an easy way to test out various new content features the organization I work in at LinkedIn would be creating. " "" "Almost three years and 133 posts later, it's time for me to change things up. After being invited to speak at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics conference this past weekend (I will share a YouTube link once it's available!), it's become clear that I want to spend more of my focus in the sports analytics world, so my posts will shift to focus on my work there. " "" "I'll continue to share whatever comes to mind, really, but there will be a much more explicit focus than before. Looking back at the 133 #bendevtip I've posted, the topic spread is wild to me! The top topic, Code Reviews, had 14 posts, with only 7 other topics of the 35 with more than 5 posts. While I have yet to create a new topic ontology, I expect to have at most 30, probably not even more than 10." "" "It's also interesting to see that those 133 posts happened over 144 weeks -- that makes me very happy. I worked hard to be consistent, and to have posted in 92% of the last 30+ months' weeks shows all that work paying off. " "" "I hope everyone following me finds the new topics and posts valuable, but I won't feel bad if you want to unfollow me! I'm all for curating the content you see to be what you value most." "" "From now on, you can expect more information about fantasy sports and analytics and building a business part-time. The hashtag may be going away, but the posts will live on. I'm so excited about what's ahead; keep following me if you'd like to see how things turn out and thank you for reading this far!
