After launching the Sentitrac beta 5 months ago...
After launching the Sentitrac beta 5 months ago and landing a brand new redesign to the home page last week, here's what I've learned so far:" "" "1) Building a business as a side project is hard. While unlikely to be a surprise to anyone, it bears repeating. It's especially hard to progress across the areas that need attention, from building the site itself, working on the branding, receiving and addressing feedback, etc. Time management has been absolutely critical!" "" "2) As Chris Shreeve mentioned in his post last week, the sports tech industry is incredible. As hard as it's been thus far, the support I've been able to get from others in the space has been invaluable, and I'm very excited to keep working with all these new connections" "" "3) Focus is essential. Sentitrac started as a general-purpose fantasy football tool, but even that needs to be narrower. By narrowing the focus to DFS (Daily Fantasy Sports) more specifically, I've found more clarity in what to build next, and with limited time, that's been sorely needed. " "" "4) Patience is essential; Sentitrac isn't going to blow up overnight, as much as I'd love for it to. Especially with an innovative product like Sentitrac that aims to bring a new type of data to the sports tech industry, SEO and sharing social content is vital, and that takes time. That said, got to start somewhere!" "" "Sentitrac is just beginning, and while it's felt like a mad dash to get going, I don't know that I'm even at the first-mile marker yet of the marathon that will be this business's journey. While perhaps subscriber growth isn't as quick as I'd hoped, I'm not deterred. Sentitrac projections continue to be more accurate than any others on the market at the halfway point of the NFL season, and there are so many more sports to provide improved projections for eventually. " "" "Time to keep building!" "" "#sportsbusiness #sportstech #entrepeneurship #startuplife #softwareengineering #sentiment #fantasyfootball
