Promotions are always hard work, but this one was particularly challenging — this was my third attempt over the past ~two years. While I have yet to write too much about the process because I didn't want to jinx anything, now that it's official, I wanted to share a bit about what it took. From what I've been told (since I wasn't in the promotion review meeting!) I had a lot of support there, which turned out to be a crucial element." "" "That's not to say I didn't have strong evidence for promotion on a purely objective basis, with technical contributions spanning a wide variety of systems at LinkedIn, leading to nontrivial impact in several different ways, from building out a new team with a radical new charter to building automation tools that saved thousands of developer hours in the first year alone.
