Augmented reality is something I'm super excited about....

Augmented reality is something I'm super excited about. I was hopeful with the Vision Pro, but that didn't pan out. I think the core of it relates to my eyes being uneven — my right eye is far stronger than my left — and the Vision Pro expects stereoscopic vision. During my recent Disney World trip, I noticed that with 3-D, I generally see things with a bit of a blur; it never really works for my eyesight." "" "That said, Meta's Ray Bans don't present any screens in front of you, but they still provide an early augmented reality experience with the AI features that are still labeled as beta but should be widely available soon, I would imagine. " "" "While unfortunate that the Sunglass Hut in Magic Kingdom was sold out of these while I was there, they've been a really fun gadget to play with the past week or so. My primary use case is essentially integrated headphones and nice sunglasses in one. " "" "I walk my dog a lot, and it's nice to be able to do so while still listening to a podcast without needing something in my ear, diminishing my spatial awareness! The ability to snap quick pics has been fun, but the really cool feature has been asking, "Hey Meta, look and ..."" "" "From asking about store hours by looking at it while walking by to helping me identify plants that didn't have species, I'm also excited to use these in my upcoming international trips where I can ask Meta for translations. " "" "Thanks again, Don Woods, for posting about these. It pushed me over the edge curiosity-wise, that and me trying them on in person at Magic Kingdom! Now for Meta to add tiny projectors into these so UI/UX can be overlaid with true passthrough 🤞 🤞
